Importance Of Pre Online Training

The pre-online training assessment is paramount for the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course conducted 100% online via Zoom. It ensures participants’ readiness and maximizes the effectiveness of the training.

What Is Basic Emergency Life Support?

Basic Emergency Life Support (BELS) refers to the immediate care and assistance provided to individuals experiencing a life-threatening emergency. It includes a set of essential techniques and skills to preserve life, prevent further harm, and promote recovery until advanced medical help arrives. BELS typically involves cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), controlling severe bleeding, managing choking incidents, and stabilizing the patient’s condition. The primary goal of basic emergency life support is to sustain vital functions and increase the chances of survival until professional medical aid can be accessed.

FAQ

Yes! For a long time, some amount of face-to-face contact time was needed for first aid training, allowing participants to practice and demonstrate practical skills (like CPR) for assessment. However, the recent development of easily accessible and widely available video-conference software such as Zoom has now made fully online First Aid training courses a reality.

If you’re used to conventional face-to-face training seminars, the idea of Zoom might seem a little strange or unusual. But in reality, training over Zoom isn’t fundamentally different to a training workshop you might take in person. You’re part of a group of students, all learning from the same trainer who’s running through course material, talking through the information shown on a screen, demonstrating practical skills and techniques, and then giving you a chance to demonstrate the skills you’ve learned.

The main difference with a Zoom format is that this is taking place on a screen, which shows the trainer and what he’s doing and allows you to see the other students’ faces. And unlike an online presentation or video, using Zoom means the learning is interactive. Just as you can see and hear the trainer, they can see and hear you. You can also see and interact with the other students. This means that Zoom training allows you to ask questions of the trainer, clarify things as they go, benefit from the questions asked by other students, and interact with your group.

Provided your computer has an internet connection, you don’t need to have Zoom installed on your computer to use it – it’s possible to run Zoom in an internet browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. However, you will need to have a computer with a webcam and microphone installed – so the trainer can see and hear you assess your learning. While most modern laptops come standard with these, many desktop computers don’t.

If you don’t have access to a computer with a camera and mic, you may find installing Zoom on a tablet or smartphone a far easier option than trying to source a new computer.

The link for the meeting (and any passwords required) will be sent to you electronically in the days leading up to your Zoom session, usually by SMS or email.

Leading up to your Zoom training session, you’ll want to make sure you’ve completed the self-paced component of the course materials, including the pre-reading (which will be assumed knowledge during the Zoom seminar), and the online quiz. You’ll also need to make sure you have your zoom capable device in a space where you can focus on the training – and you’ll have the room to demonstrate things like CPR on the floor (not on a table or bench).

You’ll also need your equipment from the training resource pack close to hand – and it’s best to have inflatable training manikins fully inflated and ready to use.

You might also want a pen and paper to take notes.

To use Zoom for the first time, you’ll need to set up an account with Zoom. This is usually straightforward – you just need to go to the Zoom website (https://zoom.us) and click the “Sign up, it’s free” button in the top-right. You’ll need to give an email address (and a few details like date of birth), choose a password, and then you’re done.

Once you have an account, you can now use Zoom from a web browser, provided you have a camera and microphone on the computer. However, it does work a little quicker and easier if you install the app. On a phone or tablet, this is done like any app – downloading the app from the app-store or Google Play, and then entering in your email and password. On a computer, it’s only slightly harder – requiring you to download the installer from the Zoom website and then run it on your computer.

Once zoom is running on your computer or device, you’re ready to join the Zoom seminar. Although you’re free to try out Zoom and perhaps set up a zoom meeting with a friend – using Zoom is free, after all.

To join the FirstAidPro training seminar, you don’t actually need to start the meeting – you’re joining someone else’s meeting.

If you’re on the website using Zoom through a browser, make sure you’re logged into your account first. Then you can click on the link to the Zoom seminar FirstAidPro sent to you electronically.

If the link won’t work for you for some reason (such as if the link is on your phone and you’re using Zoom on your computer, or vice versa), there is another option. Just log into your account and click on the “Join a Meeting” link at the top right. Then enter the “Meeting ID” number from the Zoom information we provided, and click “Join”.

If you’ve got the app installed on your device or computer, this is even easier – using the web link will automatically open the meeting in the app. And if you can’t use the link, just opening the app and clicking the “Join” button will get you started.

You’ll have a range of training sessions available to you and can select the session best suited to your schedule. If you have a group all wishing to do first aid training via Zoom (such as a workplace), you can talk to us about a group booking, and we may be able to arrange a session at a time best suited to your group.

The non-Zoom component of the training, of course, can be completed at any time you choose – provided it’s completed before your Zoom session (as that information will be assumed knowledge for the session).

Yes, our Zoom training will have regular breaks to stretch your legs and get some food as needed.

The prices for FirstAidPro training range from $49 to $149, depending on the course and any daily deals that might apply. You can check the course calendar for specific prices for a given course.

And remember that if you find an equivalent course elsewhere for a better price, we’ll match it.

Self-Paced Online Learning and Knowledge Assessment

Followed by Zoom based Practical Skills Assessment

  • When you’ve completed your booking for your Zoom first aid course, you’ll get an email confirming your enrolment and a link to Vasto – our online learning system. Once there, just follow the prompts to log in for the first time and provide your details to the system (finalising your enrolment).
  • Once you have a login and your details are on the system, you’re now free to work through the self-paced course content on Vasto. This can be completed at whatever time suits you best, and you can work through it at your own pace – you just need to have completed the final Vasto assessment before your Zoom session. The Zoom component of your training is an interactive, 2-hour trainer led learning workshop giving you the chance to practice and demonstrate practical first aid skills for your trainer, with plenty of time for questions.
  • The time required for the self-paced section of the course varies according to the prior knowledge and experience of the person, but it’s a good idea to make sure you have half a day available to work through the material.
  • To participate in the Zoom component of the training, you’ll need a decent internet connection and a Zoom capable device. This could be a tablet, a smartphone, or a laptop with an inbuilt webcam.

Zoom-base Training and Practical Skills Assessment

A practical, effective alternative to in-person, face-to-face training

The reason we’ve chosen Zoom for our first aid training is that it’s the best tool for the job. It’s simple to set up, easy to use, and highly effective for setting up meetings and training seminars over the internet. All of which makes it a perfect choice to deliver accredited online first aid and CPR training.

Our instructors are highly experienced and qualified first aid trainers with years of experience in the field.

  • Information on how to connect to the Zoom seminar – including a digital link to the Zoom session – will be provided on Vasto. To log in, you’ll need to have a zoom account – which is free and only requires an email and password to set up. You’ll also need the Zoom app installed on your device, logged in to your account (unless you’re using a laptop or computer with a webcam, in which case you can run Zoom from a web browser).
  • During the session, you’ll be able to see and interact with the trainer and other students. You’ll need to make sure your camera and mic are connected, so other people can see and hear you – otherwise you won’t be able to show your skills to the trainer for assessment.
  • During your session, the trainer will assess your practical first aid skills, both through scenario-based role-play and demonstration of practical skills. To complete the training, you’ll be expected to perform CPR on an adult and an infant manikin placed on the floor – both of which will be in your training resources pack. In addition to being able to physically perform the CPR, you’ll need to be able to angle your camera down to the floor where you’re working
  • To connect to Zoom, you’ll need to make sure you have not only a Zoom capable device (such as a tablet, laptop or smartphone), but also a stable, reliable internet connection.

How do I join a Zoom training session?

  1. First, you’ll need a Zoom account. You can set this up on the Zoom website (https://zoom.us/) – just click “Sign up, it’s free” to start the process.
  2. Get the Zoom app installed on your device and log into your account. On a laptop, you can also run Zoom from a browser (without the app) by logging in to the website.
  3. Access your student portal, and find the Zoom link posted with your course information. Clicking on this link should take you directly into the Zoom session.
  4. If it doesn’t work, join the meeting manually by clicking the “join a meeting” button and entering the meeting ID provided with the zoom link.
  5. When joining the session, zoom asks what name you would like displayed. When it does this, you need to enter your name exactly as it appears on your registration. The trainer will not admit anyone to the session unless their name on Zoom is on the registration list.

Certificates Issued FAST On Completion

Upon completion of your course requirements, you’ll receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment certificate. This is accessed digitally through Vasto in the comfort and convenience of on-demand with files for downloading or printing as needed! (T&C)
