Canberra’s most flexible
First Aid training

Express Online is the quickest and most streamlined training method on the market. Students save time by completing knowledge tasks online and in their own time. All first aid courses have a practical element so you still need to attend a face-to-face session to complete your training but the amount of time you need to spend in class is less than half that of a conventional First Aid course.

With a push towards online and distance learning it is difficult to find traditional in-class courses. Our face-to-face first aid courses are still our most popular, possibly because people still yearn for the hands-on comprehensive training and support that can come from a face-to-face course. Unlike other so-called face-to-face courses, there are no hidden online assessments or tasks.

What Is First Aid Response?

First Aid Response is the immediate care given to an injured or ill person until professional medical help arrives. It involves assessing the situation, providing necessary treatment, and stabilizing the person’s condition to prevent further harm or injury.

First Aid Response Training For Community And Workplace Settings

First Aid Response training for community and workplace settings involves providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to effectively respond to emergencies and provide immediate care.

It covers topics such as assessing the situation, performing CPR, controlling bleeding, treating burns, managing fractures, and administering basic first aid techniques. The training aims to empower individuals to confidently and appropriately respond to medical emergencies in their community or workplace until professional medical help is available.

What Are Appropriate First Aid Procedures?

Appropriate first aid procedures involve following established first aid principles and guidelines such as those provided by the Australian Resuscitation Council. In an emergency situation, individuals should assess the situation, provide CPR if necessary, control bleeding, treat burns, manage fractures, and administer basic first aid techniques. Asthma training, for example, should be obtained from a certified training source and involve practical exercises. Successful completion of our first aid course leads to issuing a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

What Is First Aid?

First aid is the first help given to someone injured or who has become unwell unexpectedly. It includes practical skills that you learn in a special training course. This training is usually required for certain workplaces where accidents or injuries are more likely. Before helping someone in need, it’s important to complete the training course (accredited course)to learn the right techniques. During the course, you practice in simulated situations that feel like real emergencies.

You will also know about the content of a first aid kit and how to employ them properly. Before treating the person, you should assess their condition to understand how to help them best. It’s recommended to take refresher training regularly to stay up to date. First aid training covers many situations and is designed to be as realistic and thorough as possible. It can be used in workplaces and everyday life, in your community or wherever someone needs immediate assistance.

First Aid Skills

First aid skills refer to the knowledge and abilities acquired through a first aid course assessment, typically conducted through face to face training. These skills include the ability to perform first aid procedures, both through theoretical understanding and practical assessment. They involve utilizing all the relevant equipment, such as an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and understanding when to seek assistance from emergency services.

First aid skills also encompass practical demonstrations of techniques like CPR and the proper use of personal protective equipment. Individuals with first aid skills are trained to handle various incidents and can effectively complete incident report forms. Additionally, they are knowledgeable about the appropriate use and maintenance of first aid equipment, including first aid kits.

First aid training skills must be refreshed every three years, and resuscitation training must be refreshed every 12 months, in accordance with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the requirements of the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. The acquisition of first aid skills typically requires a minimum age (14 years) and a certain level of knowledge. Through practical training, individuals gain the ability to assess and respond to medical emergencies, providing necessary care until professional medical help arrives.
